Primary Arms Optics is thrilled to announce that they're seeking a qualified candidate to fill a role as a Product Development Engineer II, a position that has a direct role in the design and creation of new optics and products, while improving existing ones.
Primary Arms Optics is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for firearms and optics who can take ownership of projects throughout all stages of development. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, Primary Arms Optics' ideal candidate will work alongside senior engineers and manufacturing partners to aid in the research, design, prototyping, and refinement of new optics and other Primary Arms Optics products.
Day to day, a Product Development Engineer at Primary Arms Optics will be responsible for building and validating product prototypes with prototype shops, and designing the fixtures and tooling needed for their assembly and inspection. They will also lead the root-cause analysis on product issues to support both internal teams as well as outside vendors and suppliers to keep product development on schedule.
Candidates for this role are required to have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience, with ideally three to five years of work experience in the firearms or optics industry. Candidates will also need to have relevant manufacturing experience, specifically with milling, turning, molding, and casting. Added experience with dimensional and optical inspection equipment, drafting engineering drawings according to ANSI standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and tolerance stack analysis is preferred. Likewise, a genuine passion for firearms and optics is strongly valued.
